Footers and rain

My new shop and house will have in floor heat. After studying different blue prints of the construction of the foundation, footers and slab, I was not happy with what I was seeing so I did it my way. Ha ha If the concrete isn't insulated the heat will escape and heat the ground outside the building as much as 8 foot away from the building. I needed a ditch dug exactly two inches bigger than my building and pretty well impossible without doing it hand. Ha ha ànyhow I got the footer poured Sat morning, then I got a quarter inch of rain Sat evening, and another inch and a quarter last night. Muddy as can be. Happy Monday everyone and have a great week.

your right about that sometimes the only wat to get things done right is to do it yourself. it's frustrating but it's how life is.

Yep, and I am glad, I am hoping to have it enclosed by harvest, then be able to work on the inside this winter. I am still a good month and a half from starting harvest with as late as I was getting crops planted.

So exciting Big - and even though can be frustrating esp with rain and other probs getting in the way, the fun is in the doing of it! Hope you are having a great weekend - and some "me time" as well?!

I am a year late starting it since I moved it to the other end of the farm, then 9 months of rain. Ha ha I am planning on having it enclosed before harvest, then I will finish it this winter when the snow is blowing. Ha hai am only doing this once in my life so I am going to do it right. I have collected rocks from the farm that I will use to build a rock wall around the shower, figured I would have a shower head, as well as a waterfall in the shower also. Should be pretty neat.

Ahh geo thermal heat. Very cool. I've heard thats a great way to have even temps. And hot water

On the lake house we had mini split systems installed. A big one for the living room and 3 small units in the bedrooms. I love them! We've never tried the heat function as its still hot as heck. The cooling function works great. Since this house was 'used' and had no ducting, this seemed easiest.

Your rock wall shower sounds fabulous!

I am not using Geo thermal, I am using a wood furnace, boiler for heat. I bought a outdoor system that will heat 8500 SQ feet . So I will be cutting firewood for it. My nephew found it on FB and I got it for five hundred bucks. I have plenty of fence rows to clean out. Ha ha
