Are there many men near you who sell their skirts to the thrifty shops, for you to buy later? Oh, different junk lol. Here we have the thrift shops, charity shops we call them, and boot sales. You go in as a seller with your car full of your junk, pay a fiver for entry and sell all you can. Then there are the markets, where you find everything. I used to buy tools at Wembley Market, the same manufacturers as for those in the proper tool shops, just a 3rd of the price! Loved the leg stool!

Wow! . Great finds. And that's some nice work those others did, too. I usually buy less expensive stuff and look for bargains when I can. . I'm just not into stuff so much. I did just buy a sofa and love seat from Kawanis a couple months ago. . It looks brand new and cost 1/4 the price.

So lovers, are you a thrift store, flea market, yard sale, bargain shopper as well? Yup, 90% of my clothing, probably 50% of my tools, and a number of other things. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Hi Joy... you took me further this time... yes... I try to be frugal... although not with everything... but, if I see a deal... I go for it... and... I've set aside my share of hand-me-downs... and people have scooped them up thanking me... and, I have done the same... it is a good thing to keep things moving... my tighty whities are always purchased new... the thought of it not being like that or borrowing... feels yucky to me... that's just me... Marty Robbins - "One man's trash" Hey girl, is that a frown on your face You don't look like you belong in this place Why don't you tell me what it is that you've been through 'Cause you're much too pretty to be lookin' like that Tears in your eyes just ain't where it's at Why don't you tell me what that boy has done to you I said, one man's trash is another man's treasure One man's pain can be another man's pleasure Why don't you let me see if I can dry your eyes Woman oh, woman won't you give me a chance I'll help you through your broken romance Why don't you let me be the one to raise your smile 'Cause the party's over, everyone has gone home You shouldn't have to spend the night all alone I know a place where you and I can go for a while I said, one man's trash is another man's treasure One man's pain can be another man's pleasure Why don't you let me see if I can dry your eyes... wow - you're an inspiration!

You really are an inspiration, and your antique and found furniture is beautiful. I am particularly impressed by what Durham has done in creating an atmosphere and occasion when everyone can so effectively reuse and recycle. This is a fantastic idea that really needs to be shared, and taken on, by other communities. The recycled piano is stunningly brilliant and beautuful. Check out my profile or and become a "watcher" of my blog FMAOPLS,to learn more about me, and for intelligent, lively, smartassy and fun discussion, with a little irreverence thrown in. "Like" or comment on my photos, and I promise I'll add more. Thanks.

I own a number of "found items" mostly from dumpster diving, or items left behind when people move out of a unit. Too heavy for them to move, not enough room on the truck etc. is mainly why they leave the things. Clothing we ( the employees where I work and myself) is something we take a pass on. Items of clothing are usually bagged up and given to the Salvation Army, or the Good Will store. You'd be surprised at some of the stuff that's left behind when people move out. Electronics, once came across an older style large screen TV, perfect working order. Tables, chairs, sofas, bedroom sets, kitchen items..Full pantries, unopened cans, boxes, and jars of food as well as cleaning chemicals, along with vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, mops, brooms and dustpans. Most of the stuff hardly even used. It's wasteful really.

Hello Joy, WOW..Love those items you found & had made. I am truly in awe. Recycle, reuse and help charities in the long run..Great way of thinking, Plus helping to save items from landfills. Fantastic You are a great example & an inspiration to all of Us. Happy Sun Hugs, Ana6

I'm not a bad amateur carpenter and it relaxes me so I"ve found building stuff out of leftover wood scraps, really old barn wood, and wooden pallets (especially the older ones as they were made from hardwoods like oak and maple) can turn out nice and also functional. I've found that a lot of the local big box stores will just give you as many pallets as you can take.
