That's never a good sign. The guys that dump our dumpsters never get out of their trucks. Oh they may roll down the window to say something to you, but getting out? I could tell he had a bone to pick. Of course I'm the only one around when one of them comes to do their job, so guess who always gets an ear full when they aren't happy. At issue? The parking lot. As you know we were hit hard with snow and our lot looks like it. Tenants parked willy-nilly where ever they want to park, even so far as parking half way out into the road that runs in front of the lot. Doesn't help that the plow driver piled up heaps of snow on the other side of the street making parking on that side all but non existent, though it doesn't stop people from parking there. That of course makes getting into the lot even harder. Then there is the ice that's built up on the lot itself, both black and white ice. With the rain we've been getting these past few mornings..well it's like an ice skating rink out there after the Zamboni has done it's job. You can barely walk on the lot not to mention trying to drive a huge dumpster truck on it. Case in point the driver on his last run on Friday almost took out a row of cars when he pulled into the lot from the street. What really got him out of the truck yesterday was the fact that some idiot was parked right in front of the dumpsters, even thought there were plenty of spaces to park so they wouldn't be blocking the dumpsters. It's the age old gambit of parking so far away from everyone else so your car won't be damaged, that is slid into by another car. yeah, what about garbage trucks...silly sods. As I stood there and listened to this bear of a guy complain agreeing with him from time to time on certain points... we both knew there was nothing I could really do about the situation, aside from relaying his concerns to my boss. I did that when I finally caught up with the boss later on yesterday, but then again there isn't much my boss could do about the situation either. It's not like he can stand out there twenty-four seven and direct people on where and how to park, or get the owners to pony up the cash to have the lot salted. That's not gonna happen anytime soon considering how tight the purse strings have been around here lately. In the end, the driver got back into his truck and squeezed his way into pick up the one dumpster that was really blocked off by the lone car, backing out with the thing still attached to the front of the truck on the forks with out hitting the car that was blocking him dumping the load and moved the empty bin off to the other side of the lot so he could get at it easier next time. So deft at the job I wondered why he was so irate in the first place? I also wondered what it would be like to have a guy like that pick me up and..well....I guess I was just half listening to the driver..my mind tends to wander when I'm around guys like that..... Any who I went back to work. Off to shower now....
