I like both but am more of a guinea pig person. I hope you adopted the two dogs you have. So many animals in shelters and being fostered including pure breeds that need a home. Makes no sense breeding more. Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth. If only animals had the ability to know when to keep away from us humans they would be better off.

I'm a cat person. Nothing against dogs, but cats appeal to me much more because they are independent. Yet they're very loving if you treat them the right way. They're less trainable than dogs because they don't have the same needy yearning to please a pack leader. However, two of my cats had what I called "puppy-dog" temperaments. One of these was a cat I successfully trained to come when I whistled, sit down on command, and shake on command. It took a lot of patiently shaping her behavior and feeding her many treats but afterwards, I could command her and she'd do it without even getting a treat. There is a man named Gregory Popovich who has a circus show with over a dozen trained cats. Most of them are one-trick kitties, par for the course, but very entertaining to watch them all. But I'd say, if you want a trainable pet, go with a dog, forget the cat. Does it matter when I meet someone? Oh yes. I don't mind if someone wants to avoid cats due to allergies or is indifferent to them, but active dislike of cats is something that makes me want to avoid associating with a person. Especially a man I might otherwise get involved with. If he dislikes cats for their independence and initial aloofness, he's not going to be able to handle my personality either. Good topic! Hope the "but this is a sex site" haters stay away.

I have BOTH !! Problem I have with them periodically is that; I maybe doing something around the house or outside and come in to sit in recliner and not one of them but both would be laying IN My CHAIR !!! It's NOT like I don't have OTHERS that they could lay in !!! As Some Might Say, Darn Kids Anyway !!!

cats, of course. yes, dogs can be trained to do so many things, granted. but if a PERSON would sit, lay down and roll over on command, youd think that was the stupidest person on earth. dogs are shown to care whether their humans are happy, but while i enjoy that my cat meets me at the door every time i come home, he doesnt need me to constantly show im pleased by him. my cat, on the other hand, WILL protect me from visitors he doesnt trust while welcoming friends and family. and when its raining, snowing or just plain freeezing out, i LOVE that i dont have to go out with him to take a crap. FACT ABOUT DOGS - this is NOT a diss at all, just interesting. dogs evolved because of garbage. heres the story - our pre-human ancestors, when they began to spend time in single locations - hunting blinds, shelters, then eventually building homes and communities, eventually gave rise to garbage piles, which drew the attention of wolves. the more skittish wolves stayed distant from the proto-humans and stayed wolves, but the more curious wolves slowly began to interact with the proto-humans and evolved into dogs.
