I Would Rather Die of Passion Than of Boredom

When you mention the word passion, people automatically think you are going to talk about passion in the sexual context

Passion is an emotion to be embraced, chase it always, allow it into your heart. It is what motivates us and keeps us moving forward. Passion for art, literature, sport for doing good by someone or something, for love, for your faith. Passion lights a fire deep with-in us and it is our responsibility to keep that fire burning strong. It gives us energy to reach our goals.

Passion is not just for the young amongst us. You do not have to be young beautiful and carefree to feel passion for someone. Lust can sometimes be mistaking for passion in the young. I think real passion for another human being is about knowing that person and all that they are, all that they need and all that they are capable of becoming. Building your passion for them takes you to the next level and is beyond a sexual attraction. Look inside, see who they really are. What makes them breathe what matters to them. Share their passion and this in turn will build the sexual passion you have with someone.

In 1883 Émile Zola released “Au Bonheur des Dames” that contained an instance of this saying in French. In October 1884, Vincent van Gogh wrote a letter to his brother Theo that included the quotation as part of a larger excerpt from Zola’s novel. Thus, both well-known figures employed the saying, but Zola was the originator.

How often have you known someone who retires and doesn't last six months. Their work was their life. They had no hobbies or outside interests, regardless if they had family. I refuse to be that kind of person.

So my question to you is: What are You passionate about?

What a great blog for today my friend, so very true passion is not just about sex, it's about many other things in our lives. It truly is a great thing to be passionate about so many other things in life, as it also makes us feel good.

I hope your Friday is a great start to a wonderful weekend..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Another great blog sexyldy1000. Do you suppose that some of us will either find or reignite passion during these physically distant times? I know that I've picked up my guitar again and I read about people taking up some interesting hobbies. Stay safe and stay well.

Auto racing - building, improving and ultimately driving and winning races.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I never get tired of art.
I go to other cities and have scheduled trips to other countries in order to check out their museums.

My professional work includes drawing buildings for engineers. I also photograph for fun and profit. I have photographed several weddings, television/music projects and assorted events.

I have been drawing since before kindergarten and I bought my first film camera at the age of 10.

I haven't changed much since then.

Oh a good post. I am putting off retirement for that reason. I can afford it. But I fear turning to mush, mentally and physically. So, when I do find another passion, I guess I will know and retire. Maybe travelling but now, that is a no go. I have to do something. Maybe volunteering is what I will do.

I have heard the stories about not surviving retirement so I at least had an atlas of possibilities - I had belonged to a service club for several years - we delivered meals on wheels, roadside cleanup, habitat for humanity, etc so I knew that if I needed an outlet those were available. I also enjoyed travelling and photography which are mutually compatible and I have been fortunate to check off about 90 of the travel bucket list. And one piece of advice I have found to be fulfilling - "Always have at least 10 things on your bucket list - when you accomplish one, add one"

Yes there's all kinds of stories of people doing exactly that! Remember how you couldn't get basic ingredients for baking bread! It's always a pleasure to see you drop by. Be well! Stay safe!

Ah - then you must be well acquainted with the works of Mr. Van Gogh. The Art Gallery of Ontario and the Royal Ontario Museum here in Toronto are world-class. I admire those who can draw as I have absolutely no skill. Photography is a relatively new passion of mine. I have a few examples on my profile. Thank you for stopping by

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. When I lost my corporate job as a result of "downsizing" , I really wasn't sure how things would turn out. However, I did some travelling and stepped up my volunteer work. It led to an amazing opportunity with the Invictus Games (and yes I met Prince Harry). It then led to a position with an event management company supporting trade shows, conferences, consumer shows and special event. I love what I do but it all came to a grinding halt on March 12. This year may be a write-off; time will tell.

A very good post, makes one think. I guess one would say I am passionate about life!, Not in the context of time but in quality. I want to be able to look back at any given day and know that she smiled, that the family is in good order, every one is where they are to be and I know all is well in my world..If I can know that my world is good, I can have passion about tomorrow. Not just that the sun will come up but that I feel good about the things that make my life good.. One can have passion for many things; material things, mental things, hobbies, various groups. some even get passionate about politicks..LOL

Passion I feel is often a misunderstood word as is art and certain types of people seem to not understand how others feel about their interests or chosen form of expression. Which is probably why poor old Vincent had such an unhappy time interacting with the world of his time.

"I think real passion for another human being is about knowing that person and all that they are, all that they need..."

So I imagine THAT, would include forgiving their transgressions?

Sadly you are right that too many people think of passion only in a sexual context.
What am I passionate about? I get passionate about ideas, new ways of looking a them and life. Soaking up the aura or atmosphere of people enjoying life.
Met a woman this summer whose passion is art but also loves talking ideas. We often have wildly varied conversations. As she noted, it is wonderful to find someone else who has a wild curioucity. Been dating for just over 2 months and few of our dates last less than 6 hours.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

Yes it certainly is an oft maligned and misunderstood word. And yes, Vincent certainly led a troubled life.

Forgiveness, much like respect, has to be earned, not demanded.

Let's presume you've been an ensemble for more than two years. I'd think, 'forgiveness' had ALREADY been earned. That's what defines friendship - for me. Either that, or there was never a bond to begin with.
The idea that 28 months later you've still got someone on probation - 'earning' daily points - is absurd. You might be confusing the word 'demand' with 'expect'.
What more has to be done to deserve salvation in your eyes. Especially if a sincere apology had been offered.
Unless of course, you're looking for perfection. Is anyone sin free? Are you?
I'm not sure there is a perfect partner waiting for your benevolence. Maybe you'll be lucky and find one as pure as you.
Best of luck.

I have always liked that picture. When I think of passion I don't think of sex unless I reading a story. Passion is much more than sex and you described it well.

We have two lives, and the second begins when we realise we have only one - Confucious

You are making a lot of unfounded presumptions about me and what I am looking for.
I cannot grant salvation to anyone. The ability to do so belongs to a higher power.
People have to take responsibility for their own actions instead of continually expecting to be “forgiven” or for the “slate to be wiped clean” simply by pressing the Delete key.
Much like the boy who cried wolf, “sincerity” wears thin and becomes not believable.
I am aware that perfection doesn’t exist on this Earth and of my own shortcomings. I don’t need you or anyone else to grant me “luck”.

I agree it is an interesting picture which evokes different emotions each time it’s is viewed. Each person needs to define what passion means to them. There’s nothing wrong with it being different for everyone.

So... 'sincerity' is the issue.
Hmmm... tough one to measure. 'Trust', is a word I'd replace it with. You'd only know, or feel that, after hours and hours of conversations. Did you have any of those? You never felt anything? Or was that an illusion?
You're easily swayed if 2 years of THOSE, are so easily crumpled in one or two fuck ups.
No worries about wishing 'good luck'. I was just being polite. I can see that you're in a mood.
No worries. I'll just say what?

You have mistaken honesty for being "in a mood".

I think you have said more than enough. As someone who likes to utter, "Less is more" , you aren't heeding your own words.

There is passion is just being alive, living each day! From the smallest of things, to the grandest! For me, out of the sexual realm, a few of my passions are writing, coloring, building jigsaw puzzles, and, the art of conversation. The more you grow with someone, the more passionate you become in every day activities together, if it's just watching a movie. You know, that is so true, younger people misinterpreting lust for passion. Great point - thank you!

In Luv, Lite, Laffter ...

We share some of the same thinking. I am grateful every morning when I awaken to face another day. Life is what you make of it. Although obstacles may be thrown in our way, we find the strength through our passion for life to overcome and continue. Hope you have a marvelous Monday
