INSOMNIACS GET IT EASY FOR XMAS

My insomnia is so bad that I hardly get any sleep but, looking on the bright side, there’s only three sleeps to Xmas!

Generally I sleep well. I tend to go to bed at about 11pm most nights and I’ll fall asleep quite quickly particularly if I’ve just had sex. I sleep with the radio on - it has to be talk and not music radio - because I wake up throughout the night. With the radio on I can just listen to what’s being said and gradually go to sleep rather than fretting that I can’t sleep.

Usually I wake up about 5am and fall asleep by 6am, and then wake up again at 7am just to fall asleep again by 8am. After another half-hour-or-so I reawaken and get up; I’m lucky that my job doesn’t normally require a 9am start.

Though not a solid sleep, I’m getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night.

Do you sleep well?
How many hours sleep do you normally get each night (or day if you do night-shifts)?

Emilie Autumn, author of The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls book, wrote: "I only sleep with people with who I love, which is why I have insomnia."

Both Margaret Thatcher and Donald Trump claimed they don’t need much sleep, but this just tells me that people need to sleep more! Sleep is good.

And there's only 118 nights to Xmas!

Right now I am NOT sleeping well. My mind just will not shut off no matter what I do and I am a LOG sleeper, meaning once I hit the pillow and I am down for at least 5 hours. I also am a non mover, meaning I stay in one place. I know why my tidy organized mind will not shut off- too much on my awake plate

I my friend , since I was young have never needed more than 5 hours Max..... and I fall asleep like a rock not hearing anything at all.... For work I get 4 hours tops and on nights off 5 is my max.

No insomnia at all but my internal body alarm. It is what keeps me energized all day long........

I will say my saving grace is being able to shut my mind off as well as technology an hour prior. Some times two hours. A mistake most people make, hence lack of sleep........

Thankfully I still sleep well. I get about 7 - 8 hours every night. I have changed my routine though....I used to stay up late writing blog posts....now I go to bed around 11 and get up at 7...or earlier if I am minding the grandkids.

I sleep well once my head hits the pillow!
I get about 6 hours sleep per night but get a couple hours more when I'm camping or on vacation

I rarely get to bed before midnight...yes, even at my age!
I am sleeping better lately now that the pins and needles in my foot has settled (still around though but not nearly as bad). I get up around 8 in the morning and I've stuck with that routine for a while now.

i used to sleep decently with bouts of insomnia. about a year ago, i ran into some heavy life issues and it moved me into a really bad insomnia period followed by a sleep pattern of 4 Am to 10AM. i can't fall asleep without hearing the birds sing.

grr.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

I'm a mover when I sleep. I hope your mind will shut off soon so you can sleep.

Five hours sleep a night doesn't seem enough. Do you think your job has affected your sleep?

Do you sleep well? Not really. I often have bouts of insomnia. After going to bed around midnight and maybe going to sleep within an hour, I often wake up between 2 am and 3 am and have trouble going back to sleep for hours. When I finally fall asleep again, it's almost time to get up.

How many hours sleep do you normally get each night (or day if you do night-shifts)? I get 5-6 hours a night if I'm lucky.

Like you I often wake up throughout the night but I fall asleep again soon after waking up. I find listening to the radio in bed helps me sleep as I don't fret about being awake.
